Experience Change with Carlson Counseling and Wellness Solutions, PLLC
At this time I am not accepting new patients for anything other than assessments for transgender individuals needing diagnostic clarification for medical treatment and/or immigrants in need of assessment for hardship, VAWA, or asylum cases. This is for the foreseeable future and I will update once I am able to begin opening up other slots again.

Your treatment should always be tailored to your individual needs. I use a variety of person-centered and strengths-based approaches in my practice. Furthermore, I am formally trained in:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (effective for depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.)
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (effective for PTSD and trauma-related difficulties [ages 18 and up])
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (very effective for personality disorders, as well as depression, anxiety, etc.)
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (effective for PTSD [ages 18 and younger])
Pricing and Fees
The standard fee for the initial intake (comprehensive clinical examination which yields diagnosis and recommendations) is $175.00 (usually one time only). An immigration assessment costs the same as the intake, but there are fees associated with the writing of the report which we will discuss as part of the informed consent for treatment (again, I offer a sliding fee for those in need).
Subsequent session costs depend on length of time booked:
Therapy Session 30 mins = $55.00
Therapy Session 40-45 mins = $90.00
Therapy Session 55-60 mins = $115.00
Family Therapy = $115.00
Movement-based Therapy is dependent on location
Free Consultation 20 mins = Free
In my practice, I do not take health insurance payments and I am not on any health insurance panels. I am not an in-network provider for any health insurance company and therefore cannot bill your insurance company for you. In the Electronic Health Record that we will set up for your account, I can provide a statement of services to you directly.
In some cases, you may be able to seek reimbursement from your insurance company for using an out-of-network provider, but this will be determined by your health insurance provider and you should contact them directly if you intend to pursue this option.
I accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards as forms of payment. I do require that a credit card is kept on file in your Electronic Health Record, regardless of method of payment. If you desire, I can also set up automatic credit card payments for you, allowing us more time to focus on your family during our sessions.
There are a number of benefits to utilizing self/private-pay instead of insurance coverage. These include having greater autonomy over your treatment, having control over finding a therapist that is truly a good fit for you, not having arbitrary limits set on number and length of sessions, and greater confidentiality and privacy. If you find that you are having difficulty affording the cost of therapy, please speak to me about the possibility of a sliding fee scale.
